Jean-Jacques Szczeciniarz, awarded with Prix Georges Charpak of the Academy of Sciences of France

The French Académie des sciences, in its session of June 30, 2015, wanted to emphasize its interest in the research of

Jean-Jacques Szczeciniarz with awarding him the Prix Georges Charpak:

[" The Prize awards Jean-Jacques Szczeciniarz, professor at the University Paris Diderot in Paris, Historian Philosopher of Science of first rank.
His work has focused on astronomy and then on Mathematics.
His thesis is a fascinating study on the work of Nicolaus Copernicus and the way he subverted the outcome tradition of Ptolemy and Aristotle.
Its efforts focus on regaining links between philosophy and science in action. It is one of the few French philosophers can work in recent contemporary mathematics. After working on the work of Gauss it is working to uncover the philosophical interest of the work of Grothendieck and some recent topics of mathematical physics."]

Jean-Jacques Szceciniarz is Director of the History, Science & Philosophy Department
