Psychophysical entanglement 2016–2017

Organisation: Pierre Uzan & Sandrine Roux

How can a mental state "cause" a bodily movement? What is the nature of the relationship between our mental activity and that of our brain? In what sense can we say that our psychic life and the physical diseases we develop are interdependent, as Hippocrates already thought? More generally, what kind of connection can be established between our mental states and the material world?
These questions, which are related to philosophy of mind, neurobiology and psychosomatic as well as to depth psychology or parapsychology, are among those that will be addressed by the speakers of this transdisciplinary seminar. In particular, some recent proposals for interpreting psychophysical correlations in terms of generalized entanglement will be presented and discussed.
Key-words: entanglement, psychophysical correlations, mental causation, neurobiology, psychosomatic
