Axis Interdisciplinarity in History and Philosophy of Science

Field of science: uses of ethnography in history, philosophy and anthropology of science 2017–2018

Seminar organized by Éric Vandendriessche and Guillaume Lachenal, with collaboration of Marie Gaille

PRESENTATION

The purpose of this seminar is to explore, both theoretically and empirically, how research in the history and philosophy of science can apply ethnographic methods - broadly understood as field inquiry is practiced by comparative and participatory ethnology, science studies or social and cultural anthropology.

On the one hand, it will be necessary to shed light on the debates (past and current) - at the same time in anthropology, philosophy, ethnomathematics, ethnoscience ... - on the methods of ethnography (in various contexts) and their scientific interest. On the other hand, this seminar will be a space of collective reflection to work the questions that will raise the various works carried out with the SPHERE in the topic "Field of sciences: uses of ethnography in history, philosophy and anthropology of sciences".
