2 Metaphysics and Science

Thematics of research / Seminar / Members / 2018–2022

Under this title, it is a matter of confronting the diversity of the first philosophies of antiquity in their relation to science. Whether metaphysics is regarded as a science (Aristotelian tradition) or the superiority of the dialectic is affirmed on any form of positive knowledge (Platonic tradition), one can not independently consider each other’s metaphysics and science .

The seminaries devoted to Alexandre d’Aphrodise and Proclus, works related to the commented translation of Aristotle’s Metaphysics, as well as those devoted to the reading of Alexander by Averroes, are attached to this theme.
